“Do NOT buy from this seller” 2009-07-04
By K. Duncan (Kalamazoo, MI)
This seller should be removed from your listings. I never received my merchandise nor could I get a response from my e-mails. I am now out nearly 60.00 with nothing to show for it. There have been many poor reviews that have shown up since my purchace. Unfortunately, they were not all there when I purchased (or thought I purchased, really just threw money away.)

“The best workout system ever invented.” 2009-07-03
By Kevin M. Anson (San Diego, Ca)
I have been working out my whole life. The P90X program is absolutely amazing. The time and effort put into it by all of these fitness professionals and nutritionists is worth 500 bucks or more in my opinion. If you REALLY want to get in shape, get ready for a butt kickin good time. Order it, trust me: [...]

“Great in some ways, disappointing in others” 2009-07-02
By Tuckerby (Los Alamos, NM USA)
I got the P90X DVDs as a change of pace to my normal workouts. I’m an avid weightlifter and former competitive bodybuilder who found her usual routines getting stale. I also wanted to add some aerobic exercise, something enjoyable that I could do at home. The P90X system intrigued me, so I took a chance and bought the workout DVDs.

I must say that I really enjoyed the weight, ab, and core workouts. I was motivated to work longer and harder because of the timed countdowns for each exercise. If I had a few seconds left, I persevered for more reps; if I gave out early, I paused, then resumed the exercise. This renewed enthusiasm was exactly what I hoped for. I also liked that these routines could be adapted for shorter amounts of time if a full hour wasn’t available. This is due to the exercises’ rotating between body parts rather than focusing on one area at a time. Thus, one does an exercise for shoulders, one for biceps, one for triceps, and then returns to shoulders with a new move, and so on.

The cardio disks, however, were mostly a disappointment. I loved the plyometrics because it offered a challenging, but doable workout. I may have been reduced to a quivering blob on the floor afterward, but I was a happy blob. The Kenpo I did not like at all and eventually abandoned. The program did not feel aerobically challenging and the kicks felt awkward and uncomfortable. I then turned to the Cardio X disk, but this also was too mild a routine. The first 10 minute segment consisted of a yoga vinyasa that felt more like an extended warm-up than a cardio workout. The second segment was Kenpo. Things got better when the program switched to plyometrics, but at that point, only 20 minutes remained for the workout.

I enjoyed the stretching disk, but often broke it up into two separate sessions. While I do love to stretch, I don’t necessarily want to do it for a full hour at a time. I prefer stretching in short bouts throughout the day.

Some good cool-down stretching after the weight and cardio workouts was noticeably lacking. The P90X system could really benefit from offering an abbreviated version of the stretch disk for use after workouts.

The yoga disk, at 1 1/2 hours, was long for me, and I often skipped the first hour of standing poses to get to the floor work, which I found more relaxing and good for improving flexibility.

Overall, P90X offers a variety of great workout routines. For me, however, only some of them proved enjoyable enough to continue using, either in full or in part. The biggest disappointment was with the cardio. I had high hopes for those disks, but found only one that I liked. And in the end, the true worth of any exercise program or piece of equipment is in whether or not you use it.
